About Kelsey

Kelsey is a 29 year old artist and educator, living in a suburb of Washington DC, helping students find their way in a world full of noise.
She's been teaching since 2006, and been making things for as long as she remembers. She majored in Fine Art at Stetson University in Florida, where she was deemed the Outstanding Senior in Fine Art. She received a grant in 2005 to study the experimental attributes of paraffin encaustics, and her first show premiered in 2006, entitled Ladylike. She has won multiple purchase awards and her work is currently featured in permanent collections all around Florida.
Kelsey has taught all grade levels, but is currently working at an IB middle school in Montgomery County Public School System, where she was just awarded the title of Best New Middle School Teacher of the Year. She is MYP trained, a mentor teacher, and recently presented at the countywide New Teacher Orientation (NEO) in 2013.
Kelsey is currently in the process of getting her masters in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. She also has plans to get TESOL certified and see the world.
Kelsey is trained in illustration and drawing, oils and acrylic, mixed media, wheel throwing, hand building, slab, and a whole lot of other things. Oh, and she's learning photography.
When not working, you can catch Kelsey in her studio, indoor rock climbing, biking, or reading in the sunshine.
